What oil does inside an oil-injected screw compressor
The lubricant separates moving surfaces, removes heat, helps seal rotor clearances and carries contamination toward the oil filter. It must also release from the compressed air in the separator. That is why a product that appears similar on one data point may behave differently in the whole compressor circuit.
Understand the product family before selecting a container

Changing oil products requires a controlled plan
Never top up with a different product merely because both are called compressor oil. Confirm compatibility and the approved changeover process. Plan the relevant filter and separator work, safe draining, refill quantity and disposal. After service, record the exact product and operating hours so the next team does not have to guess.
Investigate oil-related symptoms as a system
Foaming, varnish, high temperature, short separator life and oil carryover can involve lubricant selection or condition, but also oil level, return lines, cooling, operating pressure and contamination. Preserve an oil sample before draining when a failure investigation may be necessary.
